If you talk to someone who regularly goes to the gym, and ask them how long their average work out is, a typical answer will be one to two hours at least, otherwise they do not feel like they have worked properly.
However, when I tell these hard-core gym goers that I get the same results as them whilst spending only 30 minutes in the gym, they are astonished! Most of them think it is impossible.
For some people however, they simply have too little time in each day to do any more than 30 minutes of exercise at a time. It’s not that they don’t want to do it; there just aren’t enough hours in the day to be in the gym for 1 to 2 hours at a time.
But is it really possible to do a workout in 30 minutes that will bring real results? The answer is a definite yes, but you will need a few simple strategies to make it happen.
For every day that you will be exercising, make a plan. Write down all of the exercises you will be doing for that day and write down all of the weights you will be using for each exercise. You can also write down repetitions and sets so you can follow every step. You should count regular exercise towards your target, so road bikes taken to work as a commute will count.
You should split your body into spate exercise routines. So if you do your arms and back on Monday and Wednesday, on Tuesday and Thursday you can do your legs and stomach. This way you only have half of your body parts to work on each day cutting down significantly on time spent in the gym.
Try not to make the gym too social of a place. While being friendly is ok, don’t let yourself get distracted by having a conversation with others in the gym. The more time you spend talking, the less time you have to concentrate on weights and aerobic. You can explain to people that you do not have time to talk or use headphones then people will know that you are not up for talking.
never do a cardio routine at the same time as lifting weights. You can spend your time on road bikes one day and doing arm strengthening exercises the next. This way you are still only working out for 30 minutes. You will spend more time in the gym if you do both on one day, and you are trying to cut down time!
